Bald Hill Reservation (Boxford State Forest and Wildlife Sanctuary)
Checklist 2010 (344 species)

The area south of Townee Pond, Essex County, generally known as the Bald Hill Reservation, is a large contiguous massive of protected lands under a few different jurisdictions in three towns: Boxford, North Andover, and Middleton. It is comprised of Boxford State Forest, J.C. Phillips Wildlife Sanctuary, and properties of the Essex Greenbelt Association. There exists a website with a plant photo gallery of some 50 plants from Townee Pond produced by Roth Scott, where photo captions have identifications, though not always down to the species level and with some outdated nomenclature. Some of those we have not yet been able to confirm.

In August of 2008 we started working on the inventory of the projected harvest area in Boxford State Forest and then expanded to adjacent protected areas. As of July 18, 2010, the checklist contains 344 species (while the inventory of the harvest area comprises 213 species). It is still work in progress and is going to be revised.
