Flowers of arrowheads may be unisexual and bisexual. In common arrowhead, staminate flowers may be found at the top of the inflorescence, while the lower whorls are pistillate; or else all flowers in the inflorescence can be of the same sex, as it is in this photo (all the flowers are pistillate). Flowering continues for most of the summer.
