Though the white parts of the arrowhead flower somewhat remind
of dogwood bracts, they are true petals of a single flower
and are cradling a single developing fruit. As in other monocots,
the magic number with arrowheads is three. Flowers are in
whorls of threes, each having three sepals and three petals.
