Unfortunately, the daughter-birches chose to germinate along a road (Burma Road in Fowl Meadow). That turned out to be a wrong choice. People unfamiliar with river birch have been cleaning the road. They cut down a few rare trees and tried to "fix" others by cutting away one or two of the multiple trunks.
