Not only has bunchberry a fake flower, but also a fake whorl of four or six leaves. Actually there are two or three upper pairs of opposite leaves close together on the stem that produce the impression of a whorl. Another pair or even two more pairs of smaller leaves are hiding underneath these large leaves.
