With its sweet taste and odor of both onion and garlic, wild leek is popular in rural uplands of its native Appalachian Region, where it is known as "ramp." Both the leaf stalks and broad green leaves are edible. Annual April/May festivals dedicated to ramp cuisine are popular in NC, WV, and TN, where they are held under the names "Feast of the Ramson" (WV), "Ramp Feed" (WV), "Cosby Ramp Festival" (TN), etc.
