Platanthera clavellata (Michaux) Luer
September 13,
Boxford State Forest, Boxford
Little club-spur orchid is often self-pollinated (A. Gray's
discovery of 1882)--thus most of its flowers produce fruit. This strategy
apparently contributes to the relative abundance of the orchid within a large
area from Newfoundland to Florida.
