Tufted loosestrife with a young purple loosestrife. Even though the two loosestrifes look superficially similar when not in bloom, they don't really have anything in common and in fact belong to different families. The name "loosestrife" truly belongs to Lysimachia, but has been misapplied to Lythrum.
